Chief Researcher

In delivering 'social science that makes a difference', the Research Divisions, Units, Institutes and Centres of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) undertake policy-oriented research from its offices in Pretoria, Cape Town, and Pietermaritzburg.
Our public purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.
The Equitable Education and Economies (EEE) division undertakes research to transform educational outcomes and increase economic participation.
It recognises that education and the economy have long been linked, and conducts research to understand educational performance and improve learning outcomes, and to interrogate social, spatial and structural obstacles to economic participation.
The Dynamics of Agrofood Systems and Innovation (DASI) sub-unit within EEE, is currently undertaking a series of research projects such as the global 'One Food' initiative, Innovation for Local Economic Development (ILED) and the Integrated Rural Development Sector Strategy- Baseline Survey.  This workstream promotes a transdisciplinary approach to evidence generation for equitable quality of life outcomes for all.
Our transdisciplinary studies contribute to ecological and transformative food value chains without harming the environment and investigate options for growing and harnessing the societal benefits of equitable innovations.
As part of this stream of research, DASI is looking to appoint a Chief Researcher for a short-term eleven (11) month contract, with an interest in economics research.
The successful candidate can be based in either one of the HSRC's office's in Cape Town or Pretoria Chief Researcher (1 position) Ref.
