Chief Optometrist Grade 1-2 (Re-Advertisement - All applicants who previously applied are encouraged to re-apply)Reference Number: refs/021713Directorate: Rehabilitation ProgrammeNumber of Posts: 1Package: Grade 1: R545,262.00 - R605,550.00 p.a; Grade 2: R623,229.00 - R689,430.00 p.a (NB: Salary will be determined in line with OSD policy)Enquiries: Ms. Ratlabala D (011) 953 5400Requirements:Grade 12 certificate.Degree in Optometry Qualification.Registration certificate and current registration with HPCSA.A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA as an independent Optometrist.Good communication skills (written and verbal).Knowledge of PMFA, ideal clinic and other relevant policies, protocols, and guidelines.Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.Report writing and problem-solving skills.Must have a valid driver's license.Experience in working in the public health sector.Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).Must be proactive, innovative, and an independent team leader.Duties:Render a service in the allocated area of responsibility in the district that complies with the standards and norms of the Gauteng Department of Health.Provide overall management of the allocated staff to ensure smooth service delivery in community health centres (CHC) and clinics.Develop and monitor an operational plan for optometry services.Implement and contribute to the proper utilisation of allocated financial and physical resources.Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports, stats, ensure proper data management and perform other administrative duties.Establish a good working relationship with other stakeholders within the district e.g., Non-Communicable Disease, integrated school health programme, etc.Provide community-based services with a focus on health promotion, prevention, and community intervention.Knowledge of Performance Management and Development Management.Participate in continuous professional development activities.Implement quality assurance policies and develop appropriate quality improvement plans for the rehab unit.Attend management and stakeholder meetings and forums.Ensure adherence to government policies and protocols.Perform any other duties delegated by supervisor/manager.Notes:Applications should be submitted strictly online at the following e-Recruitment portal: https://jobs.gauteng.gov.za.
