ENVIRONMENT: A leading retail and wholesale company specializing in office and school supplies in South Africa is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and manage the organizations IT function. The CIO will be responsible for developing and executing the IT strategy, ensuring the effective use of technology across the organization, and overseeing the performance and development of the IT team. DUTIES: Develop and implement the organization's IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives. Lead the implementation of new systems ensuring program success. Lead the IT team, providing direction, mentoring, and support to ensure the team's success. Manage the IT budget, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with business objectives. Evaluate and implement new technologies, ensuring they align with the organization's needs and goals. Ensure the security and integrity of the organization's information and technology assets. Ensure the effective delivery of IT services and support to end-users across the organization. Manage relationships with vendors and third-party service providers. Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements related to IT and data management. Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the industry and recommend new technologies and approaches to improve the organization's technology infrastructure. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Masters of Business Administration is preferred. Experience managing external and internal software developers, ideally in a .Net environment. At least 10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a CIO or similar role. Strong understanding of FMCG. String understanding of eCommerce (B2B and B2C). Strong understanding of IT governance, risk management, and compliance. Strong business acumen, with the ability to align IT strategies with business objectives. Experience in developing and implementing IT strategies and roadmaps. Experience leading complex system implementations. Experience with Project Methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile. Experience driving change and system adoption. Experience in managing IT budgets and contracts. Strong understanding of cybersecurity risks and best practices.
