Chief Engineer - Cape Town - 21c Museum Hotels21c Museum Hotels Cape Town1 week agoDescriptionJob Description:Maintain the entire Hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all plant and FF&E, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.Conduct regular walk-about, visually assessing the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel and spa; all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and external areas. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation works throughout the hotel.Your Responsibilities:Assist in hiring, training and development, supervision, and disciplining of all staff in the Engineering Department, such as duty engineers, plumber, painter, joiner and apprentice(s).Adhere to all corporate purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and all other Company policies as required.Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs, and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Record necessary data to prepare monthly reports, such as Fire Report, Energy Summary, HLP Report and Water Treatment report to Divisional Engineer on a monthly basis.Ensure daily data collection; work orders are allocated and completed on time; and reporting of issues as they arise; are carried out by the Assistant Chief Engineer.Requirements:Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Construction preferred.Five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building, in a managerial / supervisory capacity.
