Minimum requirements for the role: A BSc degree in chemistry or biochemistry is essential with a postgraduate being an advantage.
Previous experience having worked in an animal feeds or related laboratory is preferred.
The company will also consider someone who has had experience working within the food industry.
Previous experience having worked within an operations or related role managing the day-to-day operations for the entire laboratory manging a very large team of Laboratory Technicians.
Previous experience having managed staff and driving operational improvements is essential for the role.
Must have a sound understanding of chemistry principles and related calculations.
Must be able to display analytical and innovative thinking.
The successful candidate must have strong communication skills.
Must have strong Excel and computer skills.
A knowledge of a variety of analytical equipment will be advantageous. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Managing a large team of people and drive the day-to-day operations for their state-of-the-art laboratories.
Providing technical support or explanation where required to laboratory staff including problem solving on instruments and analytical methods.
Liaising with clients with regards to their needs and queries and ensuring that customer demands are met.
Overseeing and managing quality control activities in association with the Laboratory Manager.
Carrying out tasks in compliance with stated policies, procedures, methods and sops.
Looking at opportunities for improvement in testing and quality activities and ensuring quality standards are maintained in all respects and the implementation of internal controls.
Assisting with aspects of safety including training and regular safety checks.
Adhering to risk and safety procedures as well as analysing quality control activities.
Staying up-to-date with advancements in feed technology and implement innovations where applicable.
