Chargehand: Mechanic

Main Purpose: Manage the Steinmüller vehicles fleet and ensure that all vehicles/equipment in the fleet are maintained and in a safe working condition without harm to employees.Key responsibilities and tasks:Planned maintenanceDevelop preventative maintenance schedule for all fleet vehicles/ equipment.Prioritise maintenance activities.Ensure that vehicles/ equipment are serviced and maintained according to the schedule and inspection check lists.Scheduling of vehicles for body repair at supplier.QA Inspection on finished product.Emergency repairs on vehicles/equipmentAssess and prioritise emergency breakdowns.Conduct Audits and controlControls the quality of repair and maintenance activities to ensure that client expectations are met.Conduct regular checks on vehicles/equipment to improve reliability of fleet.Conduct inspections on completion of repair work.Ensure compliance with the Company QMS.Administration and cost controlMaintain service and repair records.Compile vehicle condition and disposal tender lists.Keep record of re-work and corrective action.Do expediting on orders and spares required.Provides guidance and support and assistance where necessary.Assign maintenance activities according to personnel skills and capability.Safety ManagementDaily toolbox talks.Conduct job observations.Report on and investigate incidents, unsafe conditions and acts.Compliance to the OHS Act including relevant regulations, SANS standards and other relevant procedures and instructions.Ability to lead and motivate staff.Capacity to work under pressure.Ability to handle conflict effectively.Ability to manage change.Preferred Requirements:10 Years' working experience in vehicle maintenance, auto electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems for cranes.Knowledge of OHS Act, relevant Regulations and Safety Standards.
