This role will be based at Clicks Head Office in Cape Town and report to the Space Planning Manager.Job purpose:To be the custodian of the clustering engine and processes by researching and selecting the appropriate clustering techniques and fine-tuning clustering parameters to enable the most effective store clusters to increase the effectiveness of the downstream processes (i.e. Assortment Optimisation, Space Planning, Floor Planning).Job objectives:Enable customer centric strategy and sales execution through data analytics and customer insight.Use internal and external data to highlight market and business trends to increase profits and efficiency.Responsible for collecting insight through different means, from mining the company data sources and industry trends to help develop insight on company position and suggest improvements and changes to drive business and profitability.Implement standard and approved customer segmentation to drive prioritization and business growth.Responsible for improving customer experience through developing customer journey maps and segmentation, monitor CRM sales data quality and implement relevant actions.Provide category strategy support through data analytics, dashboards, reports etc.Influences strategic thinking, drives internal process improvements and customer centricity within the buying division and should be seen by merchants as a thought leader on category and assortment strategy.Consult with merchandise leadership on the right product mix and assortment related to what their customer cares about most ensuring this is supported by internal data mining to analyze purchasing patterns.Conduct clustering runs by category after engaging with the category to understand category behaviour and nuances so that data and parameters are as accurate as possible.Ensure that all relevant and useful data sources (i.e. CDTs, Product and Store attributes, demographic data) are understood and used to inform the clustering outputs.Deliver clusters by category (based on business requirements) using JDA CC which groups stores based on customer purchasing behaviour.Deliver insightful and actionable outputs for each clustering exercise by using relevant attributes to distinguish each cluster's performance differences (i.e. Product, Store, Customer attributes).Provide the so-what to guide the category teams in understanding the benefits of the different clusters and how this will help for downstream processes such as Assortment, Space and Floor Planning.Maintain store repository with cluster information by category by store.Develop further clustering best practice through benchmarking and feedback from internal Assortment & Space Analysts and through the category teams.Build overall store picture with the different category clusters to understand if there is any further correlation between stores.Build rich repository of store attributes to better understand store behaviour and collaborate with other areas (i.e., Store Development & Design, Store Optimisation) to develop and enhance this understanding.Job related knowledge:Strong understanding of data tables and report construction, especially customer data and preference clustering techniques.Ability to combine and analyse data from various sources and produce visual and/or exception-based output that portrays answers to business questions.Ability to draw insights from data analytics, summarize findings and make recommendations for improvement.Ability to understand and solve complex business issues covering systems, processes and structures within and across BU's.The ability to turn data and/or insights into clearly articulated views for socialisation.Ability to work with large volumes of complex data.Advanced data visualization tools experience required (i.e. Qlikview / Tableau).Advanced Excel (with experience using graphs, pivots etc.).4-5 years' experience within an analytical role, preferably in a retail environment.Previous experience in category clustering would be advantageous.Knowledge of Category merchandising principles and processes.Knowledgeable in in-store layouts, merchandising processes and tools required.Technical Skills: HTML5, SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, R, Power BI, Tableau, BY Channel Clustering.Job related skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong focus
