Job Summary: The Cashier is responsible for receiving and processing payment for services rendered or parts/materials purchased. He/She explains vehicle service recommendations to customers, prints out and writes up estimates and invoices, and accepts payment in cash or through electronic point-of-sale equipment and credit/debit payment media. The Cashier records the payment amount and closes repair orders in the computer system. He/She must operate specific software programs to keep track of customer data such as service history, parts purchased, and/or contact information. He/She may need to calculate materials charges, repair charges, and taxes, and must understand various types of warranties.
The ideal Cashier candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of one year of money-handling experience, a pleasant and helpful demeanor, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and an affinity for math.
