The Cash Desk Clerk is responsible for handling transactions at the cash desk, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring accurate cash handling. This role involves managing cash, processing payments, and maintaining records of financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities:

Cash Handling:

Receive and process various forms of payments including cash, checks, credit cards, and electronic transfers.
Ensure the accurate counting and reconciliation of cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
Handle currency transactions and conversions.


Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly and provide assistance as needed.
Answer customer inquiries regarding transactions, accounts, and other related services.
Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional and courteous manner.


Transaction Processing:

Accurately enter transaction details into the financial system.
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers.
Maintain records of all transactions and ensure accuracy.


Compliance and Security:

Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
Implement anti-fraud measures and report any suspicious activities.
Ensure the security of cash and other valuables at the cash desk.


Administrative Tasks:

Prepare and submit daily cash reports and documentation.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Maintain a clean and organized cash desk area.


Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other cash desk clerks and the finance team to ensure smooth operations.
Provide support to other departments as needed.



Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in finance, accounting, or related field is a plus.
Previous experience in cash handling, customer service, or related role.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and other financial software.
High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Work Environment:

Primarily an indoor setting in a retail or office environment.
Requires prolonged periods of standing, as well as occasional lifting of up to 25 kg's.

Working Hours:

Full-time or part-time positions available.
May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on the business needs.

Compensation:

Salary market related plus Benefits
