To ensure that all equipment related to air-conditioning in the building and the maintenance thereof is kept up to the required standard, and according to health and safety regulations, in order to prevent cutting of services in broadcasting .
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Carry out the maintenance of mechanical equipment in the area appointed in order to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of systems Carry out daily inspections of all areas under his/her responsibility in connection with mechanical machinery and HVAC Plants Maintenance of mechanical equipment and air-conditioning plant rooms that supplies conditioned air to SABC (Chiller Plants, Air Handling Units, Fans, Pumps, control valves, dampers, pulleys, v-belt systems, bearings, Motors, Compressors, Fan Coil Units, Split Units and Heat Pumps. Provide Line Manager with the descriptions and specifications for equipment and materials required for maintenance or repair on various items Carrying out minor changes such as modifications to various systems as instructed Assist in maintaining assets data base by providing equipment information and functional locations Perform fault finding and root cause analysis on mechanical machinery Capturing maintenance feedback on the maintenance management system against the allocated work order or maintenance request Read and understand mechanical drawings Safely lifting of heavy equipment and tools Carry out changes and installations to various systems as instructed. Installation, maintenance and upkeeping of submersible pumps. Installation and maintenance of sewerage systems and sewerage pumps Provide inputs and perform work on mechanical projects as and when required Collaborate with contractors and other construction professionals Assist with monitoring of projects to specification Be prepared to be on Standby-Duties and work overtime as and when required Respond to all queries in the absence of the supervisor In the absence of the supervisor, take leadership responsibility and supervise work on plant and machinery to ensure that the work is carried out safely Carry out energy isolation procedure and issue work permits to staff and contractors Work in diverse team under the supervision of the Supervisor-Mechanical Carry out any lawful instruction as directed by the supervisor or technical manager Coaching and training of new staff and apprentices GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE Comply with organizational policies and procedures Adhere to standard safe work procedures Ensuring good housekeeping and cleanliness within the designated area Immediately report any hazards to the health and safety of employees to line management INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS National technical qualification certificate (N3) NQF level 4 or equivalent Be a qualified artisan as a Mechanical Fitter (Trade Test) EXPERIENCE 5 Years' experience in a mechanical maintenance and building environment. Experience on plumbing systems for high rise buildings. KNOWLEDGE Extensive knowledge of air conditioning systems (Chiller Plants, Air Handling Units, boilers, heat pumps, motors, pumps, dampers, actuators, control valves, sensors and compressors) Knowledge of HVAC control systems Knowledge of fire protection reticulation equipment
