Our client is looking for a skilled Carbon Manager to lead carbon offset projects aimed at protecting Zambias forest reserves. This role involves overseeing carbon credit generation, ensuring compliance with carbon standards, and engaging local communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable land-use practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental conservation and has experience in carbon project management within the forestry or environmental sector. Responsibilities: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of carbon offset projects in Southern Province, Zambia. Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring compliance with international carbon standards and regulatory requirements. Implement best practices for forest carbon management, including data collection, monitoring, and verification of carbon credits. Oversee technical aspects of carbon accounting, reporting, and verification processes. Work collaboratively with local communities to integrate sustainable practices supporting carbon sequestration and local development. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and carbon offset buyers. Develop and manage databases for project data related to carbon calculations and reporting. Analyze data to identify trends and improve efficiency in current carbon projects. Prepare reports and presentations on project performance, carbon credits generated, and project impacts. Document lessons learned and best practices to support stakeholder communication and fundraising efforts. Key Skills: Strong project management and organizational skills., Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage diverse communities., Technical knowledge of carbon accounting principles and forest carbon methodologies., Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in remote and rural settings., Analytical skills for data management and problem-solving., Minimum of 5 years experience in carbon management, forestry, or environmental management., In-depth understanding of carbon credit generation, certification standards, and methodologies., Proven experience in managing community-based environmental projects., Strong knowledge of Zambias natural resources and forestry sector., Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or related field (Masters degree is advantageous).
