Respected engineering consultancy has a vacancy for a Candidate Quantity Surveyor to be based in Durban.
The candidate will be required to perform quantity surveying functions in line with the SACQSP requirements for a candidate quantity surveyor in a consultancy practice working towards professional registration.
The position is to start in Jan/Feb 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS: NDip or Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Tertiary Qualification.
Must be registered as a Candidate Quantity Surveyor working towards professional registration.
Experience in the following Computer Packages: WINQS, MS Word and Excel.
3-5 years work experience.
Sound knowledge of quantity surveying and the built environment.
SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Quantity Surveyor you will be expected to carry out duties typically associated with both consultant and contractor Quantity Surveying and Project Management.
You will be expected to engage responsibly in all aspects of your role while seeking appropriate support and guidance from senior members of staff.
Preparation of cost feasibilities, approximate estimates, cost planning, Bills of Quantities, Specifications and Schedule of Rates all in accordance with relevant standards.
Supporting senior members of the team in the day-to-day management and delivery of projects.
Preparation and administration of procurement advice, tenders, tender reviews and advice.
Follow the company's quality assurance process on all projects.
Preparation and administration of various contract forms to both consultant and contractors.
Ensure standard documentation is used when presenting any external information.
Preparation and administration of Interim valuations, Contractors' claims and settlement of Final Accounts.
Carry out site visits/inspections.
Management of contractors on site.
Working across a few different projects where applicable.
Assisting in the preparation of contract variations to review with senior staff.
Undertake relevant training as required by the organisation.
Assisting senior members of staff in their role as Employer's Agent / Contract Administrator.
Assisting in the preparation of financial reviews in accordance with the senior members of staff's requirements, Preparation and updating of standard cost databases and profiles.
To perform all duties in accordance with the company's policies and updated and advised to employees from time to time.
To carry out instructions issued by Senior Staff and Directors.
Key performance areas will be discussed once the candidate has been interviewed.
This position's salary is commensurate with qualification and experience.
