Job Title: CAD Artist / Technical DesignerOur retail client based in Durban North is looking for a CAD Artist / Technical Designer to join their team. As a CAD Artist / Technical Designer, you will work closely with the design team to produce Tech Packs that translate creative briefs into stunning apparel designs that embody the brand's high standards for quality and fit.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlease note: below duties are subject to review and change.Creating detailed Tech Packs that include flat sketches, colourways, annotations, specifications, and bill of materials. Ability to collaborate with the design and planning team, send comments to factories, and adjust Tech Packs accordingly.Stay updated with current fashion trends, conduct market research, and analyze consumer preferences to anticipate future trends.Develop creative concepts for clothing, accessories, or footwear collections based on research findings and brand identity.Create sketches and technical drawings of garments, accessories, or footwear, translating conceptual ideas into tangible designs.Choose appropriate fabrics, trims, and materials for the designs, considering factors such as quality, availability, and cost.Develop patterns based on the designs and create prototypes to test the fit, drape, and overall aesthetic of the garments or accessories.Work closely with other members of the design team, including pattern makers, sample makers, and merchandisers, to bring designs to life and ensure that they meet quality standards and production deadlines.Prepare presentations of design concepts, including sketches, fabric swatches, and mood boards, to communicate ideas to clients, stakeholders, or internal teams.Oversee the creation of samples and participate in fittings to refine the designs and ensure that they meet the desired aesthetic and fit.Liaise with manufacturers or production teams to ensure that designs are produced according to specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.Contribute to marketing and promotional activities, such as fashion shows, photo shoots, and social media campaigns, to showcase the brand and its latest collections.Inspect final products to ensure that they meet quality standards and resolve any issues that arise during production.Continuously refine and evolve designs based on feedback from clients, customers, and market trends.Manage design-related budgets, including material costs, prototyping expenses, and production costs, to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.Keep abreast of industry developments, technological advancements, and changes in consumer preferences to remain competitive in the fashion market.Desired Experience & QualificationProficient in using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Free HandRelevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience in creating tech packsKnowledge of pattern constructionStrong understanding of garment constructionPrior experience working with tech packsInterested?Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 5 days for interview.
