Key Responsibilities:Procure and range build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to all trading opportunitiesAssess complex situations and implement workable solutionsHave a high degree of organisation and prioritization skillsSuccessfully source and procure a balanced range of merchandise in line with company strategyWork closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategiesNegotiate effectively to deliver Financial business KPI'SBuild and maintain good relationships with employees, suppliers, and key functions in the businessContribute to growth/profit through innovative ideasAvailability to go on buying trips (local and international)Understanding and delivering a clear product strategy aligned with specific store brand strategyThink in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detailDrive product efficiencies and key measuresCommunicate effectively at all levels.Team player and able to foster collaboration across buying and planning functionsQualifications and Experience:Diploma, Graduate Degree, or Post Graduate DegreeExperience as a Buyer (5+ years essential)Homeware Buying experience will be an added advantageIntegral understanding of the clothing retail Cycle and Buying ProcessA good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable)Skills:Excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.Uncompromising negotiation skillsGood analytical skillsHave a solid understanding of Quick Response modelExcellent Time management skillsGood communication skillsGood judgement and problem-solving skillsBehaviours:Applies market and business insights in order to drive organisational objectivesForms, develops and leads a group of individuals toward the achievement of a common team objectiveCreates an environment that fosters and nurtures a culture of creativity which drives successThinks and plans strategically, focusing on the long-term goals and objectives of the organisationDevelops plans and prioritises initiatives that align to the organisational goals and objectivesUnderstands and navigates dynamics created by processes, systems, and peopleAssesses and improves the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of various work processesQuickly adapts and acquires new knowledge, skills, and competencies in a rapidly changing environmentInterprets and simplifies complex and contradictory information when resolving organisational problemsHigh level of EQ and resolution drivenHigh level of tolerance and resilienceMust be able to be decisive and handle pressureHave a value mind-set, speed & agility, and a can-do mentalityTakes accountability and ensures others are held to account on agreed upon performance targetsSets ambitious goals and takes focused action to achieve desired outcomes to deliver measurable resultsDiplomatic and tactful, while also being assertivePreference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.ABOUT USWho we are is because of our people.
