Job ResponsibilitiesProcurement of consumables, raw materials and any other items required by the companyEnsures adequate stock levels and timeous orderingEnsures stock levels are maintained in-line with minimum stock levels and respective sales forecasts to avoid stock depletionSourcing and purchasing of buy-outs as per requisitionsIdentifies alternative suppliers to improve pricing, delivery lead times and BEE procurement targetsConducts reviews of existing and potential suppliers in accordance with procurement principles (cost, quality, lead time, BEE compliance)Liaises with internal stakeholders to determine buying requirementsLiaises with other Company buyers to assess suppliers and discuss volume discountsIdentify unused or obsolete stock and return to supplier if possibleEnsures purchasing principles are followed (i.e.: competitive pricing, compliance, quality, availability and purchase order lead time)Manages and adheres to purchasing procedures that conform to Company standardsEnhances and manages supplier performance and promotes fair dealingEnsures best pricing is obtained through market researchFacilitates the relationship between suppliers and sales functionsMaintains monthly spreadsheets to control the receiving of all Diesel deliveriesConducts dipstick readings on diesel tanks for comparison to theoretical readings and investigation of any variancesReceiving Control:Inspect and verify quantities received of goods ordered ensuring that goods received correspond to orderEnsure physical quantities of goods received correspond to supplier delivery noteDesired Experience & QualificationNational Senior CertificateTertiary qualification - Bachelor's Degree – Procurement/Supply Chain or similar - preferredMin 5 years relevant experience in a similar role within a manufacturing/steel environment
