Description
The buyer is responsible for inventory oversight, coordinating with suppliers, ensuring timely material delivery, and sourcing new products as approved by the Integrated Procurement Manager. Additionally, the Buyer is tasked with creating item codes, GRV stock and maintaining up-to-date pricing information from suppliers and raising any pricing and quality non-conformances to the Procurement Manager for resolution with the supplier.
Responsibilities
Purchase goods, materials, components, or services within specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Accurately place orders and track them from initiation to delivery, promptly addressing any issues.
Maintain a centralized, up-to-date database, updating supplier pricing regularly.
Ensure timely processing and alignment of goods receipts with purchase orders, verifying all associated documentation and pricing.
Develop and maintain a process for monitoring open purchase orders to ensure alignment with invoiced pricing.
Report any variances and produce operational efficiency reports to the Integrated Procurement Manager.
Vet potential suppliers, gather preliminary information, and establish lead times and minimum order quantities (MOQs).
Provide feedback on supplier performance, focusing on reliability, quality, and compliance with delivery schedules.
Handle all product sourcing requests efficiently, ensuring they meet specifications and providing prompt feedback.
Load new product codes as authorized and maintain an up-to-date item master database.
Update and maintain pricing for procured products in alignment with approvals.
Support the procurement function and other relevant departments, reporting any supply issues that may impact business operations.
Serve as a liaison between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.
Requirements
Matric, preferably Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain or Procurement
3-5 years experience in a similar role
Computer literate.
Previous experience in a warehouse.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management practices.
Solid understanding of supply chain procedures and inventory management.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
