Job Overview The purpose of this position is of tactical nature and is focused on continuous improvement, and operational excellence in line with business requirements and sustainability. Priorities include collaboration with supporting functions to support and achieve production targets as well as providing direction and leadership within area of responsibility to achieve zero harm and a high standard of quality in order to meet customer requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities Management of team members through the adherence of company policies and procedures Management of resources and costs to ensure that productivity, recoveries, turnaround time and sales targets are met Ensures compliance to production schedules, machine build plans, quality processes, efficiency standards and WIP Drive CI initiatives to ensure operational excellence (OpEx) Drives strategic plan for the business unit/s to ensure business grows in a sustainable manner Align resource requirements with capacity plan and conduct forward looking exercises to create predictability Promote the K-way and the Monozukuri principles of Komatsu Maintain and manage all equipment and tools Training and mentoring staff; motivating them all for effective performance for the general growth of the company Analyze and explore market trends; identifying new opportunities to grow the business. Coordinate with other HOD's and managers to integrate objectives and ideas for organizational growth. Qualifications/Requirements Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical or similar qualification) and/or Production Management Studing towards Post Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Project Management will be advantageous. Metallurgist knowledge and experience will be advantageous/beneficial. Supervisory/Management Course – Focused on People Management 3-5 years' experience working at a middle management level within an Engineering/Industrial environment Must have experience in executing plans, delivering business goals, and implementing changes in order to achieve or exceed targets Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and lean principles Previous experience working within and or managing a unionized workforce Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience using ERP's (SAP) Must have driver's license and own transport.
