Job DescriptionTo coordinate and drive enterprise-wide strategic payments topics, and where applicable, design and implement appropriate, rigorous and sustainable solutions linked to strategic decisions, through effective understanding of customer needs and collaboration across product houses, business units and segments.
Assist Payments Head with planning and coordination of internal payments meetings and Excos, on strategic payments topics.Assist with modernisation roadmap for payments, starting with clear view on segment priorities for the next 1 to 5 years, and how these translate into capabilities needed, existing projects and budgeted plans, and future capabilities needed to ensure FRB wins in payments.Provide support to Payments Head in supporting the Payments Exco Chair as required (ongoing and ad hoc), to draft memos, letters and presentations, or plan events, on payments strategy or key topics (e.g. for Excos, Stratco's, Board, Board School, Media events).Assist in supporting and coordinating initiatives for other key payments stakeholders, e.g. RSO and alternative RSO.Support Payments Head to provide leadership in coordinating stakeholders to discuss topics and solutions, especially where these lack ownership or progress / cut across multiple BUs.Identify strategic payments topics to address white spaces, and take the lead in driving progress on research, analysis, internal engagement, obtaining agreement on strategic direction and driving out initiatives or solutions in line with these.Own and / or become an SME on strategic topics, and provide input and guidance as needed, ensuring stakeholder engagement and progress on decisions and actions, e.g. Interchange, payments data, payments dashboard / income statement.Work with Regulatory, Risk and Industry teams/representatives to understand key developments and support business areas in determining impact and how the bank should respond.Assist in supporting payments SMEs that sit in Segments / Product Houses and Enablers (including in Broader Africa). Become a key stakeholder on strategic topics.Continuously research key topics / conduct market analysis across emerging trends, competitor activity, in the local and international markets, etc. as need arises, and provide insights relevant to business areas and strategic decisions.Support the bank in shaping and rolling out the new operating model for payments, ensuring we are set up for success. Assist new lead/s in determining governance needed to support the new model.Provide input to the 'open market'/fintech strategy as it relates to payments.Where relevant and linked to payments decisions/strategies, facilitate and coordinate end to end implementation of prioritised and approved solutions for relevant product house, business unit or segment.Ensure design of customer centric and sustainable solutions, products, enhancements and business cases that are integrated across channels and deliver on the strategic objectives of product house, business unit or segment.Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate.Ensure compliance to legislative and audit requirements and adherence to relevant processes.Set tactical goals and optimise the use of the people, finances and technologies in order to realize those goals.Required Experience: Post Graduate Qualification.Minimum 5 years in banking payments operations or strategy.Proven track record of stakeholder management at senior levels.Experience delivering strategic initiatives in financial services.Required Knowledge: Strong foundation in payment systems.Banking regulation.Risk management.Market / industry trends.Strategy development.Required Skills: Executive level stakeholder management and communication.Strategic thinking and analysis.Project coordination.Ability to translate complex topics for different audiences.Take note that applications will not be accepted on the below date and onwards, kindly submit applications ahead of the closing date indicated below. 04/12/24
