Date Posted: 08/15/2024Req ID: 39301Faculty/Division: Operations and Real Estate PartnershipsDepartment: P&B Business ServicesCampus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:Reporting to the Business Services Lead, the Business Services Advisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a client group that includes a portfolio of Vice-Presidential and shared services. This involves supporting unit managers on a variety of complex financial issues, ensuring compliance with the university's Guide to Financial Management.The incumbent acts as a Business Officer within the Planning & Budget Business Services Hub (BSH), supporting financial, space, human resources, and other administrative functions of the BSH's client group. The incumbent is responsible for processing FIS and HRIS transactions, including invoices, expense reimbursements, appointment changes, pay increases, and personal information changes. The incumbent will also perform office, facilities, and equipment management duties, as well as scheduling and administrative support duties for clients of the BSH.Working with the BSL, the incumbent provides support to staff within the client group on issues related to human resource/payroll administration, based on knowledge of university HR policies and collective agreements, and supports recommendations to management on related matters.Qualifications:EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business or equivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCE:A minimum of 3 - 4 years' recent related experience in a similar role, preferably in a university environment.Demonstrated experience in financial & operations management.Knowledge and understanding of university budget process, procurement policies, financial, HR and administrative policies.Knowledge of space management and facilities planning and administration.SKILLS:Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in spreadsheet applications and a good knowledge of word processing software; HRIS and FIS experience required.Demonstrated experience in financial management.OTHER:Excellent knowledge of financial accounting, reporting and internal control procedures.High degree of political acuity and judgment, ability to deal with senior university officers and staff in a manner which engenders support and cooperation.Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative as well as the ability to work collaboratively.Attentive to detail and accuracy.Positive problem-solving orientation and ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.Closing Date: 08/26/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: SalariedAppointment Type: Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: PM 1 -- Hiring Zone: $75,286 - $87,834 -- Broadband Salary Range: $75,286 - $125,475Job Category: Finance/Budget/Planning/AuditAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.Diversity StatementThe University of Toronto embraces Diversity and is building a culture of belonging that increases our capacity to effectively address and serve the interests of our global community.
