The primary purpose of this role is to drive the company's growth and success by actively sourcing, originating, negotiating and concluding long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with potential private offtakers, initially focusing on wind energy projects. This role is essential for securing reliable and sustainable revenue streams, contributing to the company's growth and market presence in the renewable energy sector. By sourcing and following up on leads, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, while representing the company at industry events, the role ensures that the company's strategic objectives are met.
Lead Generation and Management: Source and follow up on own leads for power offtake with the goal of securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).Follow up on leads generated by colleagues, external consultants, advisers and other third-party stakeholders.Present monthly lead reports to Exco to identify opportunities and track progress.Industry engagement: Attend industry events, fairs, networking opportunities, conferences, working groups and similar events to generate and cultivate leads.Maintain a strong presence in the renewable energy sector by keeping abreast of the latest industry developments, including updates from Eskom and trends in transmission, distribution, and generation.Negotiation and Relationship Management: Serve as the lead contact and primary communicator for all interactions and negotiations with potential private off takers.Conduct negotiations and manage communication through all channels (in-person, phone, email, etc.) within the bounds set by the company.Travel frequently within the local area to meet with potential clients and stakeholders.Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): Negotiate and finalize long-term PPAs with potential private customers, ensuring alignment with G7's strategic goals and legal requirements.Collaborate closely with the company's legal and industrial (construction) contracts teams, project managers, including external consultants, to ensure contracts are legally sound and meet company objectives and to ensure all terms are aligned across contracts.Liaise with external consultants, including financial and legal advisors, to support the negotiation and finalization of PPAs.Review and potentially respond to Requests for Proposals (RfPs) and Requests for Information (RfIs) launched by potential offtakers, positioning the company favourably in the bidding process and keeping abreast of changing market needs.Target to sign at least one PPA per year, with a minimum capacity of 150MW, focusing initially on wind energy projects.Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (any additional relevant qualifications will be a plus)3+ years industry experience in sales, business development or related role(s) of the South African power marketKnowledge of the South African power market Understanding of liberalized energy markets and trendsExperience in negotiating and having closed PPAs (grid connected utility scale projects, PV or Wind, 10MW and above)Experience in liaising with interdisciplinary internal and external teams.#J-18808-Ljbffr
