WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth of the Plant Engineering division by managing the business development lifecycle, from identifying new opportunities to securing contracts and fostering long-term client relationships. This role is key to developing and executing strategies that align with the company's long-term objectives and collaborating with internal teams to ensure project success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for Plant Engineering that aligns with corporate goals.
Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals and bids for plant engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company capabilities.
Manage client relationships, participate in presentations, and address client inquiries.
Proactively identify new business opportunities through market research and networking.
Negotiate contracts with clients to secure favourable terms, while minimizing risks and maximizing profitability.
Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Monitor business development performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
NQF 7 Degree in Engineering/Bcom commerce or equivalent qualification.
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) would be advantageous.
At least 5 years minimum experience in a business development environment.
Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and manage client relationships.
A good understanding of plant engineering concepts and technologies, especially in explosive environments.
Familiarity with SAP and market analysis tools.
Ability to work precisely and methodically with minimum supervision, self-starting attitude.
Technical writing and documentation skills.
Strategic thinking and decision-making.
Strong leadership and change management skills.
Excellent communication and active listening abilities.
Financial acumen and market analysis.
Relationship building and client focus.
Be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
