We are seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for driving sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients. As a business development manager, you'll identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow. The role involves careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets, enhancing the operation of the business, its position and reputation. Promote company services in the warehousing space.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing marketsSeek out the appropriate contact in an organisationGenerate leads and cold call prospective customersMeet with customers/clients face-to-face or over the phoneFoster and develop relationships with customers, clients, partners, sponsors and donors so that you can generate repeat business as well as finding new opportunitiesUnderstand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet theseThink strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business and reach new audiencesWork strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changesDraw up client contracts - depending on the size of company, this task may be completed by someone else or agreements may not be as formalLead on and support bid-writing for new grants and contracts where appropriateHave a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about themEnsure staff are on board throughout the organisation, and understand the need for change and what is required of themTrain members of your team, arranging external training where appropriateDiscuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing departmentLiaise with the finance team, warehousing and logistics departments as appropriateSeek ways of improving the way the business operatesResearch and attend seminars, conferences and events to build your business's network and profileKeep abreast of trends and changes in the business worldQualifications And ExperienceBA in business administration, sales or relevant field Proven working experience as a business development manager, sales executive or a relevant roleProven sales track recordExperience in customer supportExperience in functional outsourcing would be an added advantageSkills And RequirementsNegotiating skillsThe ability to think strategicallyProficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)Proficiency in EnglishMarket knowledgeCommunication and negotiation skillsAbility to build rapportTime management and planning skillsDesired SkillsBusiness DevelopmentSales SupportRegional SalesKey Account DevelopmentNew Business DevelopmentManage sales teamsDesired Work Experience5 to 10 years in Finance5 to 10 years in Business DevelopmentDesired Qualification LevelDegreeAbout The EmployerSince 1999, the client has been delivering specialised warehouse management solutions to a range of industries across South Africa.
