Business Sweden, The Swedish Trade & Invest Council, is seeking a highly motivated and result-oriented Senior Project Manager who is eager to be part of our talented team in Johannesburg as part of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. As a team we advise both Large- & Mid-sized companies as well as Start-ups on how to capture the growth opportunities in Southern Africa.
Sweden's trade future is increasingly tied to MEA, a region that represent some of the world's fastest growing economies. There is a wealth of opportunities in particularly the green transition, where Swedish expertise is highly sought-after. The average growth in the region is more than three percent, with several areas still dependent on foreign aid. That is why this region in many aspects will be in the center of policy development bringing aid and development measures closer to trade promotion. Business Sweden has been present in South Africa since 1993 and our team offers strategic advice and operational support that helps Swedish companies to expand and grow their business in the Southern African region.
As a Senior Project Manager your main focus is to drive sales, lead teams and work closely with our clients in South Africa and the broader Southern African region. Furthermore, you will be responsible for building strong client relationships, design and drive analytical work, secure that insights and recommendations are well underpinned and packaged in a concrete manner. Scoping and selling projects and services to our clients will also be a fundamental part of the work. You will proactively find new business opportunities and drive the insight selling in the region for clients, as well as having an active role in developing our value propositions.
Since Business Sweden has been assigned the task of identifying and promoting synergies between trade and development corporation, there will also be a strong focus for the Senior Project Manager on liaising with Swedish public agencies and ministries including SIDA and local embassies in projects related to trade and development corporation. We also work closely with supporting Swedish companies in collaborating with multilateral development banks (World Bank, African Development Bank, EIB and EBRD).
As a Senior Project Manager at Business Sweden, you interact with a wide range of stakeholders within client organizations as well as governmental agencies, academia, and Business Sweden colleagues around the world. You report to the Trade Commissioner and the position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The position will require regular travels to meet with customers and public stakeholders in Southern Africa, such as public decision-makers and agency directors, in promoting Swedish solutions for mega-deals and public procurements. You will also be part of strategic engagements aiming at developing and promoting high-level trade relations between Sweden and key markets in the region.

The global presence opens doors for cross-staffing projects, fostering collaboration with a diverse range of colleagues and exposure to a multitude of international markets. Who we are looking for:

A higher academic degree (Master of Science, Business Administration or equivalent)
Experience as Management Consultant from Strategy or Management firms
You have a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience. We value experience from Business Sweden and Team Sweden where you have preferably led both promotion activities as well as advisory projects.
You have experience of leading and coaching consultant teams and prior experience from an international environment, proven track record of successfully leading multinational project teams and working cross-border.
Proven track record in sales and the ability to independently drive client dialogues, and take on full sales cycle responsibility, is a must.
A high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement.
Intermediate proficiency (B1) of Portuguese and/or French is highly meriting.
Experience from relevant industries like mining and/or energy and transport.

An entrepreneurial mindset, ability to work proactively and independently with relevant goals and tasks towards growing the region.
