Broader Africa Currency and Exchange Manager Apply locations Johannesburg time type Full time posted on Posted Yesterday job requisition id R19977 Job Description Reporting to the Head of Group Currency and Exchanges Department, the Currency and Exchanges Manager II will have the responsibility of facilitating Currency & Exchanges' mandate across the broader Africa portfolio as well as facilitating the design and implementation of the currency and exchanges operating model, FX universe operating model and coordinating cross-jurisdictions initiatives, as well as delivering a consolidated view to protect the AD licences across the countries. Assist in pro-actively mitigating the risk of fines, sanctions and warnings that are being imposed in the different jurisdictions. Hello future Broader Africa Currency and Exchange Manager! Are you someone who can: Ensure Fit for Purpose: Build and implement strategically aligned Currency and Exchanges (C&E) operating model as well as the new FX universe operating model for the broader Africa portfolio. Manage the assessment of the current FX universe operating model to understand what the 'as is' processes, systems, capabilities, and structures are, to develop an effective target operating model. Continuously identify gaps and opportunities within the current structure to enhance the FX operating model, ensuring alignment with Group strategy and Group standards. Understand macros and regulatory changes to understand how they impact FX universe. Enablement of Broader Africa: Direct and coordinate broader Africa activities while building working partnerships across the broader Africa portfolio displaying sound abilities to communicate at all levels. Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department's objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices. Assist with the compliance of Authorized Dealer License requirements in all broader Africa jurisdictions. Act as key support and enabler for in-country functions linking the necessary capacity and skillset for delivery of solution for the Broader Africa portfolio between in-country stakeholders and Groups SMEs. Advisory: Provide guidance to internal stakeholders across all currency and exchanges related matters. Conduct regular reviews of the standards of exchange control submissions to the respective regulators, to ensure an acceptable general practice and Group standard is maintained. Review and analyse reports, records, directives and confer with broader Africa stakeholders to obtain data required for planning portfolio activities such as commitments, status of work in progress and problems encountered. Stakeholder Management: Share business intelligence with broader Africa stakeholders at Group level and in-country level and counterparties. Provide guidance to broader Africa stakeholders on exchange control matters from a legislative and policy perspective ensuring that guidance provided protects customers of the bank and the bank and falls within regulatory requirements. Identify areas within the exchange control environment where one can assist countries in operating more efficiently. Research and Development: Conduct comprehensive research on regulatory requirements, industry trends, and best practices to inform the development of first line solution in a compliant and risk informed manner. Stay abreast of circulars and changes to the respective Currency and Exchanges Regulations and any other changes and enhancement within the currency and exchanges environment, to ensure that all advice and training is always aligned to the most up to date information, rules, regulations, and policies. Engage with internal stakeholders on the application and implications of the changes to ensure consistent understanding in the value chain. Draft Group's position on key changes to the currency and exchanges regulatory environment for the broader Africa to leverage on. Broader Africa's risk profile: Support the Head of Group Currency and Exchanges in all Broader Africa governance requirements. Work closely with project management teams to support the delivery of projects, ensuring sound risk management processes are in place in projects, and are executed effectively. Demonstrate skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Qualification and Experience 6 to 8 years in legal, risk and compliance management. Relevant Degree or qualification. Project management.
