The Company currently represents 4 and 5-star graded and serviced apartments located within the Cape Town CBD, Foreshore and De Waterkant areas. We are currently recruiting for an energetic, well-organised Bookkeeper.Key Responsibilities:Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process.Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier ledger, customer ledger and general ledger.Bring the books to the trial balance stage.Perform partial checks of the posting process.Capturing of data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements.Process accounts receivable/payable.Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.Record and manage all invoices received from vendors. Must ensure timely payment of bills and monitor payment terms.Record and track guest payments and deposits. A proper follow-up on outstanding payments and ensure timely collections.Reconcile hotel bank statements with internal records. Check and solve all the irregularities as soon as possible.Monitor and control various hotel expenses. Analyze spending patterns and recommend cost-saving measures for the hotel.Monitor and manage the hotel's cash flow, to keep better financial health. Implement controls to prevent fraud and ensure the security of financial assets.Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.Requirements:Proficiency in Xero and Sage Pastel accounting software.Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software.Proficiency in MS Office.Familiarity with spreadsheets, formulas, and data analysis tools.Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Proficiency in English and effective verbal and written communication skills.Capable of spotting and resolving discrepancies.Knowledge of relevant tax requirements and how to prepare basic tax documentation.Preferred Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.At least 3 years' experience working as a bookkeeper.Proven experience as a bookkeeper in the hotel or hospitality industry is advantageous.To apply, send your CV, head and shoulder photo, qualifications, and references to: apply below .za.Note: If you have not heard back from us after two (2) weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
