The key purpose of this role is to oversee and maintain overall financial records by verifying, allocating and posting transactions. Additionally, balance all accounts by reconciling entries.ResponsibilitiesMaintain fixed asset registerManage bank reconciliations (cashbook)Maintain payroll journalsResponsible for 3rd party payments of payroll service providerMaintain suspense account and general ledgerLiaise with Management accountant regarding certain expenses as necessaryManage internal subsistence allowancesQualification RequirementsB Com Accounting (or equivalent)Experience / Skills RequiredRelevant experience within a finance department which would include the following:At least 2 years' experience in creditors/accounting related environmentKnowledge of reconciliationsGood and solid knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping and creditorsReview/preparation of journalsPreparation of monthly reporting against budgetsInvolved in the preparation of year-end financialsInteraction with both internal and external auditFinancial institution experience – (desirable)Thorough knowledge of all procurement principles and practicesUnderstanding of basic business principlesAnalytically strongThe ability to make innovative but rational decisionsAbility to manage stakeholdersAble to challenge payment/s if contrary to Regulations and policiesVerbal and Written CommunicationPersonal Attributes/Behaviours/AttitudesFervent attention to detailExcellent planning and organisational skillsAnalytical skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressureFlexibility – ability to handle erratic working hoursMust have a professional disposition displaying integrity, be a team player and energeticAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlinesAbility to liaise effectively at high levelPossess and promote the highest standard of ethics
