About the job Senior Manager: Communication and MediaMinimumRequirements: Matric (Grade 12)Minimum experience in mid-senior media relations role: 5 yrs
Journalism experience preferrableGood understanding of business and financial matters, essential.Preferred qualifications: Degree in related fieldResponsibilities: Managing incidents and issues as they arise in the interest of protecting and building the CompaniesreputationDeveloping and implementing a Group-wide issues response and crisis communicationsmechanismsManaging media queries promptly, appropriately, and efficientlyDeveloping executive-level content and thought leadership from concept to writingDeveloping appropriate media strategies, tactical plans and content in relation to corporateannouncementsMaximising the dissemination of media coverageCrafting effective press releases, media advisories, and media kits, often under pressure and withlimited timeServing as strategic advisor to Group stakeholders as well as media partners across the Group onstrategic issuesGuiding media partners across the Group in support of compliance with relevant policies andstandardsDeveloping or guiding social media and website content where appropriateArranging media-related visual elements (e.g. photography, videography, broadcasting)Producing media and/ or integrated reports daily, monthly, quarterly, annually and ad hoc, includingadvice and recommendationsMonitoring and reporting live issues and providing strategic adviceProactively identifying media opportunitiesMaintaining media listsMaintaining the Group spokespersons list and advising spokespersons to improve effectivenessArranging / supporting / facilitating media training.
Ensuring alignment with Group strategic themes and narrative across all contentProfiling of our capabilities, expertise, and functional prowess and leadershipStrategy key media relations services in support of building a universal, cohesive and bold reputation, narrative and storySupport corporate communications in proactively shaping a universal cohesive external narrative andstory boldly, and visiblyManaging and/or working with agency partners on selected projects
