Current Job Title - Blow Moulding Machine Setter(Single and Two-stage Injection Stretch Blow Moulding) references to Nissei/ASB/Sidel machines will indicate this.

Purpose Statement
Ensure production equipment is in good operating conditions and well maintained. Ensure correct setting of machine. Do fault analysis in case of malfunction or rejects.
Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position
Technical
Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.)
Have an in-depth understanding of
Product and its quality criteriaProcess (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding)General knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipmentMould installationTechnical principles and drawings (e.g. assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric)
Fault analysis and problem solving
Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed)Product quality issuesMould issuesMachine malfunction (mechanic/hydraulic/pneumatic/electric)Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipment
Maintenance
Independently develop maintenance plans and check lists (teamwork as needed)Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plansBy yourselfBy service suppliers as agreed by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerDocument maintenance according to the plans
Spares
Identify spares needed for assigned equipmentIn generalAs a preventative measure identified during maintenance checks
Machine Setting
Optimization of the production process, setting the machine for optimal performance and cycle timeEnsure that the process integrity is optimal for each run, if not amend and record new process settingDocument settings as per standard practice at the facility
Management
Liaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervalsHave an overview what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerGive completion dates and fulfill tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerEnsure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external (Bowler Plastics Toolroom, Technical department, suppliers, etc.)
Strive for improvement, research and make suggestions.
Administration (job)
Log jobs performedAnalyze Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production resultContact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.)
Spares
Have an overview of existing stock for equipmentSpare part analysis (= keep stock vs. source at breakdown)Likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery timeReport parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdownAssist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g. prepare documents, follow up on orders)Plan for the year ahead, assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager with work on budget for maintenance
Health & Safety
Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements.Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas)Work safely and report on safety hazards or issuesReport any accidents, incidents and near misses

JOB EVALUATION CRITERIA
Secondary Education - Grade 12
Tertiary Education (including Diplomas, Certificates and Degrees) - Minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory and trade tested (red seal), preferable
Experience - 5 years relevant setting experience
