PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Support and maintain IT Server, Networking and End User computing environments
BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us

Supervise the Team
Ensure an enabling climate/culture
Motivate team members to perform service with excellence
Maintain labour stability by minimising staff turnover
Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc)
Coach and counsel a team to ensure improved performance levels

CUSTOMERS
Customer Relations
Render the right service first time
Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g. SHEQ, ISO, IT issues)
Supplier Relations
Liaise with IT suppliers and service providers as required
BUSINESS PROCESSES
Policies and Procedures:
Assist with developing and updating IT Policies, Procedure, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.
Implement IT Policies, Procedures, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.
Networks:
Install, configure and maintain Wide Area Networks (WAN) with Service providers
Install, configure and maintain Radio Networks (RAN) with Service providers
Design, configure and maintain Routing protocols between Business Units
Design, configure and maintain VLAN's on large corporate network
Maintain and assist with uplinks to Production (Instrumentation) networks
Design a local area computer network (LAN) for a departmental office environment
Install and commission local area computer networks (LAN)
Install, configure and maintain networks in Datacenters
Maintain overall network availability and performance
Manage network Service Providers
Systems:
Test new systems against given specifications
Support end users in accessing and utilising in-house developed applications
Support end users in accessing and utilising purchased applications and systems
Support a wide range of Microsoft Technologies, systems and applications
Assist with implementing and supporting new IT Systems required by the business
Upgrade systems to the latest available versions
Software:
Test new software against given specification
Install, configure and maintain software in an end user computer environmen
Install, configure and maintain software in a server environment
Install, configure and maintain software utilising a database environment
Upgrade software to the latest available versions
IT Security:
Maintain and update existing IT security controls
Continuously improve and develop new IT security controls
Ensure compliance with the Samancor Chrome IT Security policies
Provide education to users to bring about an understanding of IT security risks
Safeguard IT facilities (access control and environmental conditions)
Data availability:
Backup and restore systems and data
Maintain the IT back-up strategy
Test and maintain the Disaster Recovery plan
IT Infrastructure:
Compile functional specification for new IT Infrastructure (Servers, Storage and Networks)
Implement and support new IT infrastructure (Servers, Storage and Networks)
Regularly review the system architecture to ensure it meets user and IT requirements
Ensure compliance to Group standardisation of Hardware/Software for Samancor Chrome
Maintain and repair server and related datacentre components
Maintain IT infrastructure availability and performance
Support:
Attend to and resolve assigned incidents
Monitor outstanding incidents within the team on a regular basis
Participate in the team to recommend solutions to problems
Liaise with service providers as required
Deal with IT operational problems that have been escalated
Assist with implementing and coordinating IT related projects
Provide a 24hr support function (Standby duties)
Support Local and Wide area networks
Support Systems and Infrastructure
Support End users with escalated problems
Continuous Improvement:
Liaise with Management to identify opportunities for improvement
Identify and define new IT requirements resulting in the establishment of projects
Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives
Reporting/Documentation
Compile Project documentation
Review and update Operational Reports
Review and update IT related documentation
Procurement:
Obtain quotes for IT equipment
Ensure orders are placed for IT equipment
Liaise with vendors and follow-up
Receive IT equipment and process delivery notes
Receive Invoices and process for payment
Supervise and oversee IT tasks related to Procurement
IT Asset Management
Maintain the IT asset management system (hardware and software)
Control the documentation for all IT networks, equipment etc.
Coordinate repairs of IT equipment (3rd party vendors)
Administration:
Conduct general administration in the IT Department (Filing, records, etc.)
Maintain a clean and safe working environment (Offices, workshops, Datacentre)
Maintain a clean and risk free systems environment (applications, systems, data)
Continuous improvement of customer satisfaction by means of surveying.

Minimum qualifications
Information Technology Degree or National Diploma
Extensive Knowledge of Microsoft technologies.
Three years relevant experience gained in a Desktop, Server and network environment
Additional qualifications
Microsoft Server environment
One-year supervisory experience
Experience in a manufacturing and mining industry
