Biosafety Officer

CK Group are working in partnership with a leading UK life sciences biotechnology company, to recruit an experienced Biosafety Officer to join them at their site based in East London, on a permanent basis. The successful candidate must have experience working within regulatory environments of containment levels 2 and 3 laboratories.The Company:An industry-leading clinical development services business based in East London.The Role:To support in the delivery of the H&S strategy for Biological safety, overseeing and advising on the management and operation of the Containment level 2 and 3 facilities (CL2 and CL3).Assist with setting work priorities related to management of biosafety, working as part of the laboratory management team.As the subject matter expert for biosafety, provide guidance and training to all levels in the business and across all functional areas.Responsibilities:Promote best practice in biological safety, including storage and handling of pathogens, working with different HG2 and HG3 pathogens.Work with the Biosafety key stakeholders to provide professional support to science group, operational laboratory and clinical teams.Periodically attend the Biological and GM committee meetings.Devise and deliver the biological safety management system.Lead in the delivery of timely investigations of accidents and incidents.Lead audits and inspections, working risk owners to take action and mitigate risk.Liaise with external bodies and regulators and lead on submissions for the use of pathogens to the HSE.Your Background:Degree in relevant scientific subject or PhD in Biological Science.Expert virology and microbiology knowledge gained throughout academia and industry.Experience working in a similar role at an advisory level within a clinical trials or laboratory setting.In depth understanding of the regulatory requirements of containment levels 2 and 3 laboratories (CL2 & CL3).Working knowledge of performing risk management processes including risk assessments for biological pathogens.Apply:It is essential that applicants hold entitlement to work in the UK.
