BI Analyst - Financial Planning and Analytics Focus on analysing financial data, developing and automating insightful reports, and creating visualisations that support the finance department's goals. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in BI tools, and an understanding of financial concepts and processes.Main Responsibilities Data Analysis and Reporting Financial Data Analysis: Analyse financial datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that can influence business decisions.Report Development: Develop, maintain, and automate financial reports, dashboards, and scorecards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI).KPI Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics relevant to financial performance.Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness through regular audits and validations. Visualisation and Communication Dashboard Creation: Design and build interactive dashboards that provide real-time insights into financial performance.Data Visualisation: Create visual representations of data to make complex financial information easily understandable for non-technical stakeholders.Presentations: Present analytical findings and insights to finance leaders and other stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions. Collaboration and Support Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance team members, including accountants, financial analysts, and CFO, to understand their data needs and deliver appropriate BI solutions.Support Finance Projects: Provide analytical support for finance-related projects such as budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis (FP&A). Process Improvement Automation: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and processes within the finance team, increasing efficiency and reducing manual effort.Best Practices: Develop and implement best practices for data analysis, reporting, and visualisation within the finance team.Master Data: Working with programmers, engineers, and management heads to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise master data strategies.Skills and CapabilitiesBI Tools Proficiency: Expertise in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or similar platforms.Data Manipulation: Strong skills in SQL for data querying and manipulation.Excel: Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros.Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data-related issues.Financial Knowledge: Understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.Business Understanding: Knowledge of the finance function and its role within the broader organisation.Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey insights and recommendations.Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with cross-functional partners.Detail-oriented: Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.Minimum RequirementsQualificationsDegree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other related fields.Certifications in BI tools such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (for Power BI), Tableau Desktop Specialist/Certified Associate, or QlikView Business Analyst.Data analytics certifications like Microsoft Certified Data Engineer, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, SAS Certified Data Scientist, or IBM Data Analyst Professional Certificate.Any financial certification will be advantageous.Experience2-5 years of experience in a BI, data analysis, or finance-related role.Previous experience working within a finance team or department is highly desirable.Experience with SQL for data analysis.Proficiency in statistical analysis software such as R or Python is an added advantage.Experience in the agricultural industry is advantageous.Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies, including Agile or Scrum, can be an added advantage.Other specific requirementsFull professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)
