Job Purpose:The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.
The Barista must be able to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining a positive customer experience.Key Responsibilities:Coffee Preparation:Prepare and serve coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks.Ensure consistency and quality of each coffee drink prepared.Clean and maintain equipment, including espresso machines and grinders.Customer Service:Greet all customers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.Provide exceptional customer service by understanding customer needs and providing recommendations when necessary.Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly.Cash Handling:Process payments accurately using the cash register.Ensure that the cash register is balanced at the end of the shift.Follow company procedures for opening and closing the cash register.Product Knowledge:Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coffee products, brewing methods, and trends.Provide information about coffee blends, preparation methods, and various products offered in the store.Inventory Management:Assist with ordering and restocking coffee beans, milk, and other supplies.Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are low.Cleanliness:Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop.Follow health and safety guidelines when handling food and beverages.Ensure that the work area is clean and sanitized throughout the shift.Teamwork:Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the coffee shop.Assist in training new employees when necessary.Compliance:Adhere to all company policies and procedures.Comply with all health and safety regulations.Skills and Qualifications:Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar role preferred.Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and equipment.Excellent customer service skills.Strong communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Ability to stand for long periods.Basic math skills for cash handling.Working Conditions:The Barista will work in a café environment with a high volume of customers.May require early morning, late evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.Standing for extended periods.Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:Experience in a café or food service environment preferred.
