The Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries – Norfund - invests to create jobs, improve lives, and support the transition to net zero. The fund is owned by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will help to establish and grow viable and profitable businesses in developing countries, which would otherwise not be initiated due to high risk. About a third of the investment portfolio is in Renewable energy. Financial inclusion, scalable enterprises in the agricultural and manufacturing industries, and green infrastructure are other prioritized investment areas. Norfund also manages the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund that aims to contribute to reducing or avoiding greenhouse gas emissions. Norfund has offices in Oslo, Nairobi, Cape Town, Accra, San José, and Bangkok. Norfund's committed investments portfolio amounts to USD 3.3 billion in 200 companies.

In recent years, we have built an Azure SQL data warehouse that integrates data from both internal and external sources. This platform supports Power BI reporting and serves as a central integration hub for our business systems. We are now looking for an Azure Data Engineer to further develop and manage this infrastructure, ensuring it evolves to meet the growing needs of the organization.
Key responsibilities: Data Warehouse Administration & Development Maintain and optimize the Azure SQL data warehouse for seamless operations.Manage Azure Data Factory pipelines, adding new data sources and performing data transformation tasks.Lead data modeling and engineering efforts.Administer and manage cloud services, including Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks for ETL processes.Ensure seamless integration between systems and platforms.Support Digital Transformation Develop integrations between core systems (e.g., m-Files, FrontInvest, accounting) using SQL, Python, and the Power Platform.Identify and implement automation and digital improvements using tools like Power Automate and Power Apps.Collaborate with investment teams to understand business needs and suggest technology-driven improvements.Required qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and ETL processes.3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and automation tools like Logic Apps.Proficient in SQL and experienced in API integration and automation.Familiarity with Azure Databricks for data transformation and analysis.Experience with DevOps practices and version control tools like Azure DevOps/Git.Desired skills: Experience with Microsoft Dataverse.Familiarity with Power Apps and Power BI services.Knowledge of ERP or portfolio management systems.Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages.Basic understanding of economics, business, or development finance.Key competencies and personal attributes: Proactive and curious about applying new IT tools to improve operations.Results-oriented with the ability to independently manage projects and improve solutions.Strong problem-solving abilities and an efficient, structured approach to work.Excellent communication skills in English (Norwegian is a plus).Collaborative, eager to engage with colleagues across the organization, and open to learning non-IT concepts relevant to portfolio management.We offer: A unique opportunity to work with a purpose-driven organization, contributing to sustainable global development and poverty alleviation.Good pension and insurance scheme.Flexible working hours and we prioritize work-life balance.A collaborative and diverse work environment where innovation and personal growth are encouraged.The opportunity to make a real impact in developing markets while advancing your career in data engineering and cloud technologies.Access to modern tools and infrastructure, including Azure-based platforms, Power BI, and more.Join Norfund and be part of a dynamic team committed to sustainable development and growth.
