Job Description Job Title : Governess for 4 Neurodivergent Children We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and creative individual to assist a family with four neurodivergent children (three boys aged 13, 12, and 10, and a girl aged 5).
Each child has their own unique personality, interests, and needs, making this an exciting and rewarding role for someone who is passionate and enjoys working with children.
Main Purpose of the Job: To be a "helping hand" to these children who have their own unique needs, offering the necessary guidance and support to help them thrive.
A special interest and passion for being a secure, long-term, and consistent source of support is of utmost importance.
The candidate will receive training from the NDC Facilitation Academy and will receive personalised individual support from a registered counsellor for up to 6 weeks, working in collaboration with a wider multidisciplinary team.
Job Objectives: Assist the 12-year-old boy at school for 2 hours each day, providing academic and emotional support in a facilitator role.
Develop familiarity with the school environment, curriculum, and the siblings in preparation for supporting their homeschooling.
Play a key role in planning and prepping for the family's relocation to the United Kingdom around June 2025.
Once in the UK, support all four children in their homeschooling, offering both academic assistance and creative, fun engagement.
Home-schooling & Au Pair Support in the UK Includes: Assisting with implementing structure and routine at home in preparation for homeschooling.
Assisting with breaking down tasks and chunking information, as well as implementing movement/sensory breaks throughout the day when needed.
Facilitating academic learning in social, structured, and unstructured domains as needed.
Offering support to develop executive functioning skills such as planning, organising, and problem-solving.
Using fun, creative, multisensory methods to provide academic support tailored to each child's unique learning style when needed.
Providing support to alleviate uncertainties and potential anxiety by pre-empting possible triggers.
Creating and designing visual resources if needed.
Assisting with homework, projects, and exam preparation.
Preparing snacks and lunch for the children during breaks.
Planning fun, educational outings aligned with learning objectives.
UK Visa/passport & Relocation options: The candidate is required to organise their own working visa for the relocation to the UK as well as cover the cost for their own working visa.
The candidate would need to be based in Hertforshire, Royson, Cambridge areas or in Greater London with the willingness to relocate to these areas.
The candidate needs to ensure they are eligible to apply for a UK working visa .
I.E having dual citizenship, or EU/British passport, or existing UK/EU passport or able to apply for a ancestral EU/UK visa.
The family will cover the cost of the  flights to the UK and return flights home when the position ends.
The candidate will need to arrange their own accommodation in the UK and will not live with the family.
Requirements General Requirements: Fluent in English – Essential.
Fluent in Spanish – Desirable.
Job-Related Experience: Previous experience in a tutoring/teaching role – Essential.
Previous experience working with neurodivergent children – Essential.
Previous au pair experience with neurodivergent children – Essential.
Job-Related Knowledge: Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) – Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of pathological demand avoidance (PDA) – Desirable.
Job-Related Skills: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills – Essential.
Strong tutoring skills – Essential.
Strong written communication skills – Essential.
Strong executive functioning skills – Essential.
Social and life skills – Essential.
Relationship-building skills – Essential.

Working Hours: Cape Town : 08:00 - 14:00 (January - June 2025) United Kingdom : 08:00 - 15:00 (from June 2025) Ad-hoc babysitting/au pair work (overtime).
Start Date: January 2025 Duration : Permanent (minimum commitment - 18 months) Salary Range: Cape Town : R10 000 – R15 000 per month United Kingdom : £2200-2500 per month Please note we will only contact applicants who have been shortlisted.

• Relevant certifications or qualifications in education, psychology, or related fields – Desirable.
