This role is also responsible for monitoring and coordinating the maintenance and repairs of cap lamps, self-rescuers and flammable gas detection instruments.Minimum RequirementsGrade 12 or equivalentPrescribed MHSA Lampsman CertificateA minimum of 5 years' experience in a mining LamproomAt least 3 years' experience as a Lampsperson or Lampsperson AssistantIntermediate proficiency working on the Mimacs systemBe declared medically fit for the position and the environment, as determined by the risk-based medical examination at the relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health and Safety Centre, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant's suitability for employmentKey CompetenciesProven safety leadership capability with established safety campaign delivery recordEffective communicator with sound spoken and written English communication skillsIndependent, proactive thinker and ability to schedule and deliver work within tight deadlinesA high level of motivation, strong work ethic and self-starting attitudeBe able to handle conflict, cope with pressure and manage time effectivelyDemonstrate integrity and above-average interpersonal abilitiesWorking knowledge of general Lamproom equipment and Lamproom standardsWorking knowledge and utilisation of Mimacs systems for the accurate allocation and receipt of lampsSound verbal and written communication skillDuties And ResponsibilitiesEnsure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activitiesContribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completionEnsure compliance with safety regulations and company policies regarding the use and maintenance of all lamproom equipmentContribute to team to ensure optimal safe working practice and good disciplineConduct regular inspections and testing of cap lamps, self-contained self-rescuers and gas detection instruments to ensure they are in good working conditionProactively monitor and coordinate the maintenance and repairs of cap lamps, self-contained self-rescuers and flammable gas detection instrumentsMaintain an effective record-keeping system of all assets in the LamproomRespond promptly to any equipment failures or safety concerns, ensuring minimal disruption to mining operationsTrain and mentor team members on proper maintenance procedures and safety protocolsFacilitate communication between the lamproom team and other departments to ensure seamless operationsClosing Date: 13 September 2024Please note that the Gold Fields code of conduct strictly prohibits the exchange of any payment as part of its recruitment process.Should you require any assistance or have any challenges in applying for a position, please contact the Recruitment hub on 011 411 1387Gold Fields is committed to the achievement and maintenance of diversity and equity in employment.NOTE: all relevant certificates must be attached to your CV in order to be considered for shortlisting.
