About The Role
We are actively looking for a new Associate or Senior Associate to join our Real Estate Disputes team in the Thames Valley. The Team is evolving and expanding as a result of our continued success and there is an exciting opportunity to be part of future growth.
The team advises investors, developers, owners and occupiers of real estate on how best to avoid, manage and resolve real estate issues and disputes. We listen to client's priorities and use our skills to reach a swift resolution. We work closely with our colleagues in the property transactional, construction and planning teams to ensure a full and seamless real estate service for clients.
This opportunity offers you the chance to work with a broad range of clients from international corporates, national and local corporates, NHS, local government, charities, universities and colleges, schools and individuals. As well as the opportunity to work with our established national team of 6 partners and 8 fee earners across all of HCR's offices.
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated candidate with Real Estate Disputes experience who is used to working independently within a close team. The successful candidate will be running their own caseload which will involve advising on a diverse mix of real estate issues arising from:
land sale and purchase transactionsdevelopment agreementsoption and overage provisionsrights of lightrestrictive covenantsnuisanceboundary disputestrespassersproviding strategic advice to obtain vacant possession of development sitesLandlord and tenant issues, acting for either landlords or tenants, arising from:
commercial lease renewalsrent reviewslease assignment and subletting, breaches of lease covenantsunlawful use and alterationrecovering possession of commercial and residential premiseseffective exercise of lease break rightsmixed use schemes including statutory right of pre-emptionYou will be responsible for:
Taking instructions and liaising with clientsManaging your own case loadSupporting and supervising other fee earners on a variety of casesManaging financial outputs and billing responsibilitiesDeveloping and maintaining a knowledge on legal issues, working collaboratively with colleagues across the team to share knowledgeEnsuring work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with Data Protection regulationsSupporting wider marketing and business development opportunitiesAbout You
You will need to:
Have extensive experience as a litigator and advisor, potentially with your own following or referral networkHave had exposure to the County Court, the Lands Tribunal and the First Tier TribunalWork collaboratively with colleagues and successfully manage client relationshipsDemonstrate teamwork and relationship building skillsPossess strong commercial acumenBe ambitious and organised with a keen eye for detailUse your own initiative to manage own caseload of filesBe confident and pro-activeAbout Us
