Description: The Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education (LHAE) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Associate Professor with a specialization in K-12 educational leadership. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2025 or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have earned a PhD, EdD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a cognate discipline, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek to recruit an established scholar with expertise in educational leadership, broadly defined, with a focus on K-12 educational contexts and a commitment to social justice and equity. The successful candidate will have all of the following qualifications:
Demonstrated research expertise in the issues, practices, development and/or identities of K-12 formal and informal leaders (for example, teacher-leaders, administrators, and/or system-wide leaders);A record of research grounded in relationships with practitioners in the field (for example, participatory research, collaborative research, and/or research-practice partnerships);A demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity (for example, through research, teaching, knowledge mobilization, community organizing and engagement, professional service, or other forms of praxis);Experience in supervision and/or mentorship of graduate students.We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths in LHAE's Educational Leadership and Policy program. We welcome applicants whose scholarship and teaching are informed by social justice, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, and/or other critical orientations. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in practice-relevant research, which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, a record of successful research funding for multi-year research programs, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level is required, as demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference.
Responsibilities of the position include development of a distinguished research program, teaching in the MEd cohort in School Leadership in Diverse Contexts, as well as teaching, supervision and mentorship in the EdD, PhD and MA programs in Educational Leadership and Policy, service to the Department and to OISE, and working collaboratively with related units across OISE.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education offers graduate programs in Adult Education and Community Development, Educational Leadership and Policy, and Higher Education, in addition to participating in a number of collaborative specializations with other OISE and University of Toronto degree programs.
