Our mission to break cycles of poverty is intertwined with achieving equity and racial equity in the US.PositionThe Associate Director is a member of the global Human Resources team, partnering closely with all HR team members and reporting to the VP of Global HR in the US with a dotted line to the Office Head in Johannesburg.
The Associate Director will act as a thought partner to the Africa leadership team, providing insights and recommendations on talent strategies, workforce planning, and organizational design.
Responsibilities include Performance Management, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Training & Onboarding, Policy Management, Compensation, and Benefits.Responsibilities and DutiesPerformance ManagementLead the bi-annual performance review process for Advisory staff and annual process for Core Services.Participate in employee performance discussions, including performance check-ins on new and struggling employees.Support managers in addressing underperformance, developing performance improvement plans as needed.RecruitingLead recruiting efforts for Advisory and Core Services positions.Utilize sourcing tools to increase applicant pools.Review resumes and conduct phone screens.Coordinate candidate interview and evaluation process.Maintain recruitment activity data via Applicant Tracking System (Taleo).Develop talent communities to engage candidates.Employee RelationsManage Employee Relations issues, including requests for accommodation and work-life balance issues.Handle employee departures, coordinating exit logistics and conducting exit interviews.Coordinate leaves of absence and manage the sabbatical program.Training and OnboardingResponsible for onboarding activities for new hires.Notify internal teams of new hires' start dates.Collaborate with the Training team on training schedules.Maintain records in HRIS.BenefitsAdvise employees on benefit programs.Liaise with vendors and negotiate contracts for plans.Design wellness-focused benefit programs.Employee Engagement and CultureSupport leadership in cultivating a people-first culture.Develop employee engagement initiatives tailored to regional needs.Other ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with HR teams to align initiatives with organizational goals.Support efforts to create an inclusive environment.Ensure compliance with local labor laws.QualificationsBachelor's degree and 10 years of HR experience required.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.Why Join Us?Be part of a growing and dynamic region with opportunities for professional development.Collaborate with a diverse, passionate team.Opportunity to shape HR strategies.Competitive compensation and benefits package.This role is open to candidates eligible to work in South Africa; unfortunately, we are unable to provide any visa support.At Bridgespan, we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
