Description: The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in the Marketing Area. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Applicants must have earned a PhD in Marketing or a PhD in a field related to marketing such as Economics or Psychology by the time of the appointment or soon thereafter. Prior work experience that relates directly to marketing will be an asset. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching (ideally in marketing or related courses), including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice, evidence of effective communication and presentation skills, and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogical inquiry and teaching innovation is required, along with a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities in marketing.
Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, and curriculum development. Experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students in a management program is an asset. Applicants must have the ability to teach Markets and Competitive Strategy, as well as the fundamentals of marketing theory and marketing management. They must also have the ability to teach graduate-level marketing research or graduate-level courses in marketing management, with a preference for candidates who have the ability to teach marketing data analytics.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. The teaching dossier includes a teaching statement, sample course materials, teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities.
