The Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies in Engineering Education and Practice (ISTEP) in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in the area of engineering business and entrepreneurship. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor Teaching Stream and the anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
We seek candidates with expertise in business and/or entrepreneurship whose experience and expertise will complement and enhance ISTEP's existing strengths. Candidates must have demonstrated teaching excellence as appropriate for their stage of career. Applicants are expected to have a PhD in marketing, strategy management, entrepreneurship, engineering, engineering education, or a related field at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. We will also consider applicants with an equivalent doctoral degree in a related area, or a Master's degree at the time of appointment combined with relevant industry/professional and teaching experience of at least 5 years.
The successful applicant will teach courses within FASE's Business Minor and Entrepreneurship Certificate and support the integration of business and entrepreneurship across FASE's undergraduate and graduate curricula. They will also pursue scholarship related to the instruction of business and entrepreneurship and the application of business and entrepreneurship in engineering practice.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, a teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below), excellent presentations, facilitating workshops or seminars, or mentoring of students or young professionals; as well as strong letters of reference.
Teaching experience within an undergraduate engineering program, a record of leading technology-based companies, and eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario are desirable qualifications. ISTEP is especially interested in individuals with a demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching and engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Other evidence of professional accomplishments or noteworthy entrepreneurial activities that have contributed to their profile in their field are also desirable such as a strong record of starting, managing, or leadership in technology-based companies.

The Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education & Practice (ISTEP ) is U of T Engineering's newest extra-departmental unit and the first institute of its kind in Canada. Bringing together teaching and scholarship in education, business and entrepreneurship, leadership, and communication, ISTEP seeks to lead in teaching and research on transdisciplinary competencies and their integration into engineering education and practice. The candidate will also have the opportunity to partner with the Entrepreneurship Hatchery .
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
