The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025.Candidates are expected to have earned a PhD degree and have a minimum of one-year postdoctoral research experience in the broad area of Molecular Biology, Genetics, and related fields, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates who will develop an outstanding, innovative, and independent research program using molecular biology, genetics, and/or genomics to address fundamental biological questions. We are particularly interested in applicants who use eukaryotic, bacterial or viral model systems. The successful candidate will synergize with existing research strengths in the Department of Molecular Genetics and the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (Donnelly Centre) in model organism genetics, human genetics, cellular and molecular structure and function, molecular microbiology, computational and systems biology, and functional genomics and proteomics.Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, as well as strong endorsements from referees.The successful candidate will undertake undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities on the University's St. George campus. Candidates can provide evidence of excellence in teaching with a teaching dossier that includes a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application, as well as strong endorsements by referees. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters.The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, and a cross-appointment will be sought in the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.The successful candidate will join a vibrant intellectual community of world-class scholars at Canada's leading university.
