The Assistant Packhouse Line Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing value for both the grower and the company by supervising packhouse processes involved in fruit packaging for sale. This includes leading teams of employees while ensuring adherence to quality standards, packaging sequences, and cost-effectiveness. The position reports directly to the Packhouse Manager (Berries & Pome).
Role Requirements: A relevant tertiary qualification e.g., Industrial/Mechanical engineering, Operations/Production management.At least 1 year of experience in a FMCG environment.Management experience within a Production/FMCG environment.Knowledge and experience of fruit packing will be an advantage.Technical knowledge of packing lines or production lines.Intermediate MS Office skills with advanced Excel will be advantageous.Previous ERP system experience will be advantageous.Knowledge of BRC, HACCP, food safety, and OHS will be advantageous.Have own reliable transport.Must be able to work flexible working hours (overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required).Physically fit to perform work.Key Behavioural Competencies: Leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively on all levels.Written and oral communication skills in English, with isiXhosa as a 2nd language will be advantageous.Problem-solving skills & the ability to cope with complexity.Able to handle high levels of stress in a demanding environment.Excellent team player.Key Performance Areas: Responsible for the execution of pack plans in the most efficient and effective way.Communicate and drive production efficiencies and achievement of production targets.Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and quality regulations.Investigate, analyze, report, and resolve problems arising in the packhouse and from data sources.Ensure effective stock control practices are applied to minimize stockpiling and aging of stock.Responsible for the execution of project plans and tracking against targets set.Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.Conduct monthly and quarterly performance reviews.Responsible for ensuring sound employee relations are maintained through coaching, good communication practices, and progressive discipline.Lead and manage staff to ensure production targets through the creation of a culture of continuous learning and development.Assist with managing the flow wrap.General administrative duties to be completed timeously.Job Offer Details: Market-related remuneration package based on skills and experience.Benefits: Contribution to medical aid, pension fund, and thirteenth cheque.Application Process: External candidates: Submit CV with a certified copy of the highest qualification to ******, ******, ******.Internal Applicants or internal referrals: Apply via internal company channels.Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to psychometric testing.No response within 30 days means the application was unsuccessful.Closing Date: 20 December 2024
