A vacancy exist in the Quality Department for an Assistant Metrologist who will assist the Metrologist in fulfilling the requirements and responsibilities of the Metrology Room. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Measuring Programs development for measurement of new and existing wheels Provide effective feedback to all relevant departments, if dimensional deviations or defects identified Prepare APQP/PPAP/ISIR documentation according to Customer requirements Participate in FMEA-Meetings and Control Plan-Meetings (Part of APQP) Support with conduct of Routine testing and Product audits Calibration – Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments – inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions, as well as all relevant documentation. Manage external calibration processes. Capability studies/ad-hoc measurements as part of investigations; assist with investigations into wheels not meeting requirements Documentation and record – Maintain relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports, registers and issue levels). QUALIFICATIONS: A tertiary qualification, e.g. ND Mechanical Eng or B-Tech Quality (NQF Level 6 Essential) Minimum Matric with Maths and Science Quality specific training in VDA6.3, IATF16949, Core Tools and CSR's WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years work experience in a factory environment Should have thorough knowledge of the entire plant processes Thorough knowledge of SA Quality Standards Should have experience with SPC/MSA/APQP/8D concepts OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Understanding of CMM Measuring equipment essential Thorough knowledge of Sampling process Ability to interpret drawings Ability to work under pressure, be a team player Ability to be pro-active, good time management skills Honest, have integrity and good communication skills Excellent attendance and disciplinary record Computer literacy is essential (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, MiniTab) Must have a valid Drivers Licence (own transport preferable)
