The contents of this Circular Minute must be brought to the notice of all eligible officers and employees on your establishment without delay, including those in district offices. Institutions must notify all candidates who qualify for the post in this circular minute even if they are absent from their normal places of work.
DIRECTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

The following documents must be submitted:
Application for Employment Form (Form Z83), which is obtainable at any Government Department OR from the website – www.kznhealth.gov.za
Applicants must utilize the most recent Z83 application form for employment.
Applicants must submit fully completed Z83 form and detailed CV together with proof of current and previous work experience endorsed and stamped by Human Resource Department and certificate of service from previous and current employer. Copies of certified qualifications and other relevant documents will be requested for submission from shortlisted candidates.
The Z83 form must be completed in full in a manner that allows a selection committee to assess the quality of a candidate based on the information provided on the form.
Applicants for employment are not required to submit copies of qualifications and other relevant documents on application.
Persons in possession of a foreign qualification must attach an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

The reference number must be indicated in the column provided on the form Z83, e.g. HRM 93/2023.

The appointments are subject to positive outcomes obtained from the State Security Agency (SSA) to the following checks (security clearance (vetting), criminal clearance, credit records, citizenship) verification of Educational Qualifications by SAQA, verification of previous experience from Employers and verification from the Company Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Extensive knowledge of Pharmaceutical Services, policies, approaches and procedures
In-depth knowledge and experience in pharmacy supervision and management
Knowledge, understanding and application of the legislative prescripts governing the Public Service, Pharmacy Practice and Control of Medicine
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Good team building, problem solving and leadership skills
Knowledge and skills in managing quality improvement programs
Sound knowledge of tertiary health services and national drug policy

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients, wards and departments
Effective stock control and medicine supply management including procurement, distribution within the hospital and security of medicine
Develop protocols, standard operating procedures and guidelines for effective and efficient quality pharmaceutical services
Monitor patients treatment and medicine usage through clinical audits, medicine utilization reviews and ABC analysis
Conduct service assessment and implement quality improvement programs
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Manage and supervise various pharmacy sections i.e. inpatient, outpatient and pharmaceutical stores including human resource management in terms of laid down legislative prescripts, policies and procedures
Compile relevant reports for submission to Pharmacy manager and/or other relevant stakeholders.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Provision of comprehensive tertiary pharmaceutical care to in/outpatients according to the scope of practice of a pharmacist and Good Pharmacy Practice which includes evaluation and dispensing of prescriptions.
Effective stock control and medicine supply management
Organize and control the sterile/cytotoxic mixing, manufacturing, compounding and packaging of pharmaceutical products.
Ensure continuous monitoring of morbidity and mortality through clinical audits which include prescription audits, Medicine utilization Reviews, ward round and ward checks.
Professional advisory service including research and drug information provision
Training and development of pharmacy staff as approved tutor to pharmacist's assistant(s) and/or pharmacist intern and facilitate externships for pharmacy students
Perform overtime and standby duties after hours, weekends and public holidays
Ensure compliance with Norms and Standards, GPP, policies and procedures by conducting service standards assessments and implement quality improvement programs
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Provide pharmaceutical advice to patients and professional colleagues to ensure safe and rational use of medicines.
Assist in co-ordination of activities of essential Medicines Program including Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
Participate and co-ordinate Health calendar activities like Pharmacy Month, Quality day and Patient safety day.
Compilation of ward rounds reports, minutes, workload statistics, stock status report, surveys, quality inspections and presentations using Microsoft programs.
