Post Basic Nursing Qualification with a duration of 1 year accredited with the South African Nursing Council in Operating Theater is compulsory. Post basic degree/diploma in Nursing Administration or Health Service Management. Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse and proof of current registration. A minimum of 10 years recognizable experience in General Nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council. At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in Operating Theatre after obtaining a 1-year Post Basic Qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council. 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at Management Level.Duties:Ensure effective communication and smooth running within the unit.Develop policies and protocols for the unit.Knowledge of unit equipment.Ensure effective management of quality nursing service.Ability and knowledge to carry out theatre nursing procedures.Ensure optimal utilization of Nursing Personnel in the unit.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the unit.Develop SOPs and Protocols for the unit.Mentoring of Operational Manager and Shift leaders in theatre.Lead when there is a disaster (internal and external).Be able to apply and implement procedures as per scope of practice.Manage and deal with difficult stakeholders.Supervision and control of all material resources and manage cost.Strict control of equipment and budget of department.Liaise with hospital management regarding complex issues.Maintain and respect the hospital brand statement, vision, and mission in all interactions.Create a customer-friendly environment.Be flexible and able to work under pressure.Maintain sound relations with all stakeholders and team within the department.Ensure optimal utilization of personnel in the unit.Able to manage own work, time, and that of junior colleagues.Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices.Ability to deal with conflicts and knowledge of DoH policies.Manage PMDS of subordinates.Knowledge of Ideal Hospital Realization and maintenance framework.Management of complaints.Notes:Helen Joseph Hospital is committed to the pursuit of diversity, redress, and will promote representation in terms of race, disability, and gender.
