Assistant Manager
for a prestigious 5-star safari camp. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to step into a 2IC role, acting as the manager on duty when the Lodge Manager is off schedule. Role Description:
As the Assistant Manager, you will be the second-in-command at the camp, overseeing daily operations and ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction. You will act as the Manager on Duty when the Lodge Manager is not available, ensuring smooth operations, maintaining team morale, and managing both front-of-house and back-of-house activities. This is a live-in position with a 3-week on, 1-week off leave cycle and the opportunity for professional growth in the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Management:
Oversee daily camp operations, ensuring smooth functionality when the Lodge Manager is off schedule.
Guest Relations:
Ensure excellent guest satisfaction through exceptional service, handling any issues promptly and professionally.
Team Leadership:
Assist in managing staff, providing guidance, training, and ensuring high performance in both front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
Operational Oversight:
Handle operational tasks such as stock management, reservations, and general administration.
Health & Safety:
Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for both staff and guests.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of managerial experience at a 4 or 5-star safari camp.
Leadership:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and handle guest concerns.
Guest Services:
A passion for providing exceptional guest experiences in a safari lodge environment.
Flexibility:
Ability to work in a live-in position with a 3-week on, 1-week off schedule (6 days off per month, plus 1 in lieu of public holidays).
Skills:
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a good understanding of camp operations.
Citizenship:
South African citizens or those with valid work permits preferred.
Package:
Salary:
Per month, depending on experience.
Accommodation:
Live-in with a private room and bathroom.
Leave Cycle:
3 weeks on, 1 week off (6 days off per month, plus 1 day off for public holidays).
Annual Leave:
18 days of annual leave.
