An opportunity is available for an Assistant Group Tax Specialist to join my clients Group Finance team in the mining industry. You will manage tax return preparation, payment obligations, and support audits and assist with tax compliance. Your strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and resilience is required for this role including your dynamic ability to build relationships across teams, multi-task and prioritize under pressure, and meet deadlines are essential along with having a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities: Accurately prepare and file all required tax returns in a timely manner Manage tax payment obligations and timely payment of tax liabilities Ensure all direct taxes are filed within relevant timeframes and compliances are up to date Oversee teams who are responsible for all indirect taxes (including VAT, SDL etc.) Ensure all corporate tax compliance requirements are met Manage the tax administration on eFiling profiles and all tax related queries Review tax computations and reconciliations prepared by the financial accountants Respond and co-ordinate all tax-related matters for the statutory annual audits Participate in year-end and other reporting requirements to management and Exco members Implement and communicate tax risk strategy, tax policies and procedures Provide tax planning and consulting assistance to all teams Assess the impact of changes in tax law and accounting principles on the business
Requirements: BCom in Accounting, Taxation or Postgraduate Diploma/BCom Hons in Taxation Minimum of 3 years' post articles experience in a tax compliance and/or consulting role Knowledge and experience in tax compliance and eFiling submissions Audit of tax and/or consulting experience at one of the big four auditing firms (or similar)
