Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Facility Manager, the Assistant Facility Manager is responsible and accountable for the implementation of daily work duties and responsibilities of full-time and part-time staff under their direction; relating to the maintenance, security, and physical operation of the Facility and the support services to the members, lessees, guests, and/or spectators. The Assistant Facility Manager supports the short and long term facility planning activities and acts as the Facility Manager's designate in their absence.

Duties include administering spacereservations including room bookings, activity space for all programs, events, and rentals; supervising the work of full and part-time staff; identifying facility and/or equipment issues, problems, and solutions; identifying security issues and needs of the facility, monitoring facility security and resolving security issues; ensuring caretaking requirements are met; assisting in the acquisition of equipment and coordinating installation and maintenance, the managing of equipment maintenance contracts; administering and allocating keys and assisting in any other duties or projects as assigned which contribute to the effective operation and/or improvement of the facility of services.

Your responsibilities will include: Ensures a safe environment is maintained for staff, members, and visitors by assisting the Facility Manager in the implementation of an on-going risk management programResponsible for the purchase ($5,000 maximum), delivery, storage set up, security, servicing, and day to day distribution of equipmentResponsible for a thorough understanding and compliance with all staff policies and procedures as determined by the Ontario Government regulations, Collective Agreements (when applicable), and the UniversityAssists the Facility Manager with the planning, recruitment, training, & development of new staff and and prepares work scheduled & work flow or staffProvides support and assists in addressing personnel work related issues as they arise in a timely and confidential manner and communicates routinely with the Facility Manager on issues relating to personnelAssists Facility Manager with projected expenses and revenue targets, relevant budget and financial reports and/or monitoring, and with purchases as requiredSupports the work of all external trades or teams retained from time to time for short or long term projects in such areas as deferred maintenance, lighting, access, major renovations, or internal signageAssists with the implementation of student leadership opportunities acting as mentor and/or advisorEssential Qualifications: University degree, preferably a Bachelors of Kinesiology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 3 years of related sport facility management and leadership experience in a comparable facility conducting facility administration and directing maintenance duties.Minimum of 3 years experience performing; preventative maintenance,repair, renovation projects, experience in budget management.Demonstrated experience with Health and Safety Issues, Emergency Planning and Emergency Response.Minimum of 2 experience managing and supervising staff.Mechanical aptitude necessary, manual ability in simple repairs, and basic materials management and maintenance.Knowledge of related trades (Electrical, Plumbing, Locksmith, and Carpentry) is necessary.Must have a working knowledge of employment standards, health & safety and sound management practices.Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, planning, scheduling and supervisory skills.Must have excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills, proven abilityto collaborate and participate effectively within a team.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).Must have good judgment to analyze situations quickly, effectively and confidentially. USW Pay Band 11 -- $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
