SOFX Inc. is currently seeking an Assistant Editor to provide content, editing, copywriting, and social media management support to the SOFX Media Team.The CompanyThe media company is based in Charleston, SC and focuses on global conflict, military personnel, and defense industry technology.The RoleCollaborate and report directly to the General Manager in accordance with the SOFX editorial policies.Assist with the creation of articles and other copy-based content.Manage online publications, draft email campaigns, and write article content reflecting the SOFX ideals and policies, and provide accurate reporting of all assigned subject matter.Manage the company's social media channels.Develop content for dissemination via social media, websites, and other distribution channels.Serve as the organization's media liaison.Manage the Ad Placement Matrix and coordination.Supervise the editor inbox and newsletter customer service.The Background ProfileBachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or any related field is preferred.Proven work experience in high-level writing, digital publication, or newsroom, and Web fluency.Prior experience with social media management helpful.Expert in navigating WordPress is highly preferred.Ghostwriting experience is a plus.Solid understanding of relevant or applicable U.S. copyright laws including paraphrasing and expression of ideas.Experience in writing emails with an Email Service Provider is preferred but not required.Skilled in AI content tools (Chat GPT, Jasper, Grammarly) is preferred but not required.Proficient in MS Office and Sharepoint.Knowledgeable in using Convertkit is a plus.Advanced proficiency in English (specifically writing but also speaking); this includes proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.Desire to exceed expectations, and reflect positively on the brand.The Ideal BackgroundAbility to work an evening schedule/early night hours five days a week with increased workload near the end of the week; mandatory hours for time-sensitive work will be Monday - Friday from approximately 10 am - 4 pm EST with more flexibility based on training completion and performance.Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.Strong sense of urgency in both tasks and communication; takes initiative, anticipates needs, and ability to meet deadlines consistently.Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
