Reporting to the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and High Performance Sport and the Head Coach, Varsity Blues track and field & cross country, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of the track and field program and will lead all programming and tactical implementation of the cross country program at the University of Toronto within established University guidelines, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Student-athlete recruitmentProgram athlete managementHuman resourcesSport developmentStudent-athlete developmentAlumni relationsCommunity developmentActing as a technical resourceThe incumbent provides input to the head coach with the design and implementation of a comprehensive sport development plan that is conducive to positioning U of T at a competitive level to achieve provincial and national prominence.
Essential Qualifications: Education: University degree or combination of equivalent experience.
Fully certified National Coach Certification Program Level 3 track and field, preferred, equivalency considered.
Knowledge of modern Training Theory and best practices in cross country and distance track events, preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years coaching experience preferably national or international level and a minimum of 3 years coaching experience in the CIS/U Sports.
Skills: Excellent Computer Skills – Advanced video software analysis skills, advanced Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite i.e.
PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.Management Skills – Effective oral and written communication skills, effective problem solving skills, negotiation, analytical skills required in relation to problem solving, athlete issues, financial issues.Technical Skills – Must have full technical knowledge and be current in all of the rules and regulation that govern the sport they are coaching i.e.
track & field and cross country.Other – Full technical knowledge of, and a demonstrated ability to analyze, all aspects of track and field, cross country.
